With the NFL pre-season coming to a close and the start of the college football season this weekend, why not throw in a bit of local high school football play to usher out the summer of 2019!

The Chelan Goats are hosting a 4-team football jamboree starting at 1 pm Saturday at Sargent Field. Chelan Athletic Director Rob Rainville says each school’s varsity and junior varsity teams will run a series of 40 offensive and 40 defensive plays against one another in a controlled scrimmage. There is no clock and action will take place at both ends of the field from about 30-yards in.

Aside from the Goats, other participating schools include Lake Roosevelt, Okanogan and Oroville. The jamboree will also serve as a fund raiser with admission prices of five-dollars for adults and three-dollars for kids. Chelan plays its first game of the season next Friday, September 6 at 7 pm at Brewster.
