Dr. Wendy Rae Waszut-Barrett

Wendy is the founder of Historic Stage Services, a company specializing in historic painted scenery, their restoration, and how they can work for today’s theatre.  Historic Stage Services provides consultation in addition to artist training and workshops in distemper painting.

She has written several books including, “The Santa Fe Scottish Rite Temple,” and “Free Masonry Architecture and Theatre.”

Wendy is currently working with the Theatre Museum of Repertoire Americana offering master classes in curtain painting and scenery preservation.

Dr. Waszut-Barrett’s presentation will be about the people and the art behind the historic theatre curtains and scenery of the northwest.  She will demonstrate why it is important that these stories and artifacts are saved for future generations.

She will be presenting the “Ruby U” program while she is in Chelan painting the new Ruby Theatre curtains.  The new painted curtains will replicate the Ruby 1947 curtains.  Join us for this informative presentation and see the re-creation of the old Ruby curtains in process.

The “Ruby U” presentations are a series of free public presentations, panels, and discussions of community interest to inform, educate and challenge the understanding of ourselves, and our valley now and into the future.
