Village of Lights festivities generates heavy traffic near Leavenworth

information released, file photo

The 2022 Village of Lights festivities have begun in Leavenworth. While there is no longer a “switching on” of lights, the event is expected to draw crowds, bringing heavier than normal traffic to the area. Festival activities and high traffic volumes will require traffic control in Leavenworth the next three Saturdays, Dec. 3, 10, and 17, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

These traffic restrictions will include:

  • No left turns from Evans St. onto US 2,
  • No left turns from Front St. onto US 2 at the Chumstick Highway signal,
  • No through movement from Front St. to Chumstick Highway,
  • No left turns from US 2 onto Chumstick Highway.

Other local detours will be in place on city streets. Pedestrian crossings will be coordinated and controlled by traffic signals. Travelers using US 2 Stevens Pass to reach Leavenworth should also plan for winter travel conditions over the mountain pass and ski resort traffic at the summit beginning Friday, Dec. 2.

Updates for the work will be shared on the WSDOT real time travel map and on Twitter at @WSDOT_East.
