Manson hosted the NCW B League Cross Country championships on Wednesday at Wapato Point.  It was the first time Manson has hosted the meet and it went very smoothly on a beautiful fall afternoon.  Thanks goes to Wapato Point for offering the facilities for the day.  There were numerous compliments from visitors about the lovely setting and conditions.

There were 3 races on the afternoon.  The first to go off were the high school girls.  Manson competed with a limited squad due to a rash of injuries on the team.  However, the girls who did run were in fine form.  The Trojans were lead by Cara Hutton, who finished in 5th place behind 4 Liberty Bell runners.  Kate England crossed the line in 11th place.  Also competing well were Julissa Valle and Grace Cullison.

The varsity boys were next in line.  Manson emotionally recovered from losing one of there top runners, Grant Torgesen, to a season ending leg injury to take home the first place trophy.  It is the 2nd year in a row the boys have won the title.  The Trojans placed 4 runners in the top 10, led by individual champion, Connor Torgesen,  Jonathon Sarmiento placed 4th, Jose Vazquez 7th, and Bryce LaMar was 9th overall.  Also running to personal best times in the race was Blake Cochran, Conner Clausen, and Titus Peterson.

Finishing off the racing slate were the boys JV.  Malachi Sanchez was Manson ‘s top finisher in the race, followed closely by Rex Torgesen.  Also competing well were Nicholi and Louis Sanchez.

Manson travels to Moses Lake next Wednesday for the district championships.  This will serve as the state qualifying meet.
