The Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority (CDRPA) held its first meeting of the year January 14, 2020.

The functional consolidation of two county-wide Port Districts, which encompasses the Ports of Chelan and Douglas Counties is a first in the State of Washington. The new Regional Port Authority encompasses 4,843 square miles making it the largest in the State geographically. The Regional Port Authority serves a population of 120,000 citizens with a combined assessed value of $16.5 billion.

While the Columbia River separates the two counties, the economies are intertwined as one. Community leaders and Port Commissioners believed a more unified and strategic approach to economic development in North Central Washington was in the best interest of the citizens they represent.

The Regional Port has six elected board of directors, three from the Port of Douglas County and three from the Port of Chelan County. Officers for the year 2020 are Rory Turner, President; Alan Loebsack, Vice President; and JC Baldwin, Secretary.

The new entity has 26 employees and an operating budget of $14.4 million. It operates a host of business parks and airports. The administrative offices for the Regional Port are located at the former Executive Flight building at One Campbell Parkway, East Wenatchee.

The Regional Port’s mission is to enhance the economic vitality of North Central Washington. To learn more about the Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority, additional information can be found at www.cdrpa.org.
