New e-Permit system available online beginning May 1st

information released

Firewood permits on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest will be available through a new online e-Permit system beginning May 1. This convenient option allows users to obtain permits from a computer or mobile device at any time, with no trip to a Forest Service office required.

“I am excited that we are able to provide our communities a more convenient option to get their firewood permits,” said Forest Supervisor Tara Umphries. “We know it’s not always possible for people to visit one of our offices during business hours, and online permits offer greater flexibility and access. Firewood permits will remain free of charge. This system simply makes them easier to get.”

The new e-Permit service is designed to make firewood permits more accessible and user-friendly. To obtain a firewood permit or learn more about the process, visit https://epermits.fs2c.usda.gov/forest/0617.

Traditional firewood permits will be available at local Forest Service offices on May 1 for the 2026 season, then will transition fully online in 2027. Traditional permits for the Naches Ranger District go on sale Monday May 4, 2026.
