Mike Steele has officially announced his campaign for re-election to the Washington State House of Representatives, continuing his commitment to pragmatic leadership, bipartisan collaboration, and delivering meaningful results for communities across the 12th Legislative District and the state of Washington.

First elected in 2016 and serving since 2017, Steele has built a reputation in Olympia as a respected and effective leader who works across the aisle to get things done. Over the course of his legislative career, he has helped secure hundreds of millions of dollars in investments for critical infrastructure, schools, public safety, housing, economic development, tourism, and community projects throughout North Central Washington and communities statewide.

Currently serving in senior leadership roles within the Legislature, Mike is the Ranking Minority Member on the House Capital Budget Committee and has played a key role as a lead negotiator on bipartisan capital budget investments.

“Public service is about bringing people together to solve problems and strengthen our communities,” said Steele. “Over the years, I’ve worked with Democrats and Republicans alike to deliver real investments and real results for the people of our district. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I’m excited to continue fighting for affordable communities, strong schools, economic opportunity, and a brighter future for Washington families.”

Mike, a lifelong Chelan Valley resident, has focused his legislative priorities on economic vitality, sustainable job growth, education, career and technical training, and affordability issues impacting working families. Prior to serving in the Legislature, Mike worked on the White House Political Affairs Team in Washington, D.C., before returning home to North Central Washington, where he served on the Chelan City Council and as Executive Director of the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce.

Throughout his time in office, Steele has earned recognition from colleagues, local leaders, and organizations across the political spectrum for his collaborative approach, thoughtful leadership, and ability to deliver tangible outcomes for communities large and small.

“As our district and state continue to face complex challenges, I believe voters are looking for leaders who are grounded, solutions-oriented, and willing to work together,” Steele added. “That’s the kind of leadership I will continue to bring to Olympia.”
