Stars and Stripes Auction Saturday to benefit Manson Fireworks

by Dennis Rahm

The 6th Annual Stars and Stripes dinner and auction this Saturday has sold out in advance and will once again be the single largest fund-raising event for the Fourth of July fireworks show in Manson. Last year’s Stars and Stripes affair was the most successful to date raising about $15,000 and organizers are hoping for another record-breaking event.

Manson Chamber President Jeff Conwell says this year’s 40th annual fireworks show “will be bigger than ever”. As a matter of fact, Conwell says they have been told the display will be the largest in Eastern Washington.

An added treat to this year’s Fourth of July celebration in Manson will be a military flyover featuring the EA-18G, a carrier based electronic warfare aircraft capable of speeds up to 1,181 mph. Conwell says the flyover will start at 1 pm on Thursday, July 4th.  Also scheduled is a Special Ops parachuting exhibition.

If you missed out on tickets to Saturdays sold out dinner and auction and would like to contribute to the Manson fireworks show, you can still do so by sending a check designated “fireworks” to the Manson Chamber at PO Box 801, Manson, Washington 98831 or by visiting the chamber website at www.moretomanson.com
