Match 4 Recap: Manson vs Lind-Ritzville-Sprague

Manson Trojans Place 4th in State 2B Volleyball Tournament

The Manson Trojans Volleyball team will bring home yet another trophy from the State 2B Tournament after claiming 4th place this year. On Thursday afternoon at the Yakima SunDome the Trojans lost the 3rd/4th place game to Lind-Ritzville-Sprague 3-2.

Manson started strong by winning the opening set 25-18, but had a difficult time recovering from a slow start in the second set. They would lose that set decisively 25-13 and also dropped the third set 25-18 to fall behind two sets to one. Manson then rallied in the fourth set to tie the match with a 25-23 win, but in the abbreviated fifth set the Broncos came out fast and won 15 – 6.

The Trojans team played hard and determined throughout the tournament and for the fifth consecutive year earned a top 4 finish. Seniors playing their final match for Manson included Phinley Teague, Kayden Koth, Isabella Wisdom, Karly Naranjo, Amelia Sivertson, Ayda Jones, and Kimberly Sanchez.
Congratulations to Manson and their 4th place finish at the 2025 WIAA 2-B State Volleyball Tournament!

Match 3 Recap: Manson vs Freeman

The Trojans Come Up Short in Bid to Reclaim Their Championship Title

The Manson Trojans battled hard in the semi-final match against the tall and talented Freeman Scotties on Thursday morning at the State 2B Volleyball Tournament, but ended up losing 3-0. The Scotties had a decided height advantage, with three players over 6’1” dominating the front line. Each set, the Trojans improved their approach, losing 25-15 and 25-19 in the first two sets but forcing Freeman to work hard in the final set where they won 25-21.
Manson struggled to find their rhythm, and it was difficult to put together a significant run of points in each set. It was a credit to the Trojans that they maintained their poise throughout, and keep the match close in the final set. Junior Bailey Evans was awarded the Sportsmanship Award for the Trojans.
The Trojans will now try to regroup, as they have an important matchup against Lind-Ritzville-Sprague that will determine 3rd and 4th Place in State. Manson captured Third Place in 2021 and 2023, and went on to win a state title back-to-back in 2023 and 2024.
The Trophy match for 3rd and 4th Place will take place today (November 13) at 2 pm. Listen to the live broadcast on LakeChelanNow and follow our tournament coverage on Instagram and Facebook. Go Trojans!

Match 2 Recap: Manson vs Tonasket

The Trojans Face Off Against The Tigers For the Fourth Time This Season

For the fifth consecutive year the Manson volleyball team has advanced to final four of the WIAA 2B State Volleyball Tournament. Manson keeps their title hopes alive with a 3-0 win Wednesday night over Tonasket by scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-16.
Tonasket was the #3 seeded team and had already defeated Manson in two earlier November matches, but this time around the Trojans would not be denied. Despite getting off to a slow start in the first set, Manson was able to steady themselves and take advantage of being the more experienced team as they wore down their opponent to gain the victory. Senior standout Phinley Teague was again instrumental in earning the win with her outstanding defense, hitting and serving. Junior Bailey Evans played aggressively at the net, and the Trojans’ setter, Junior Kailani Cruz, set up several hitters to deliver the ball all over the Tiger’s side of the net. It was a well-rounded team effort for Manson!
One highlight of the night was when senior Ayda Jones entered the contest for the first time in the third set and moments later ended up scoring the winning point. Senior Ayda Jones entered the contest for the first time in the third set and moments later ended up scoring the winning point — a true highlight of the match. Phinley Teague was awarded the Sportsmanship Award.
