MHS Coaches write up from a great state track meet…
MANSON TROJANS TRACK & FIELD — WIAA State Track & Field Championships – Yakima May 22–24
The Trojans competed at the WIAA State Track & Field Championships in Yakima this week and represented Manson with everything they had. Here is how it went.
The Headlines:
- Grace Walsh won the Girls 3200m State Championship with a personal best of 11:15.58. This is Grace’s second state title this school year as she also won the Cross Country State Championship in the fall. Two state titles as a freshman is extraordinary.
- Grace also finished 2nd in the Girls 1600m with a time of 5:17.60 – State Champion and State runner-up in the same meet, in the same year she started high school.
- Quinn Williams finished 2nd in the Boys 400m with a personal best of 49.68. A state runner-up finish from a junior who has one more year to go.
- Brian Crist finished 4th in the Boys Shot Put with a personal best of 47’10.75″ — a top-5 finish at State to close out his senior season.
- The Girls 4×400 Relay of Isabella Wisdom, Grace Walsh, Katya “Kathrin” Zhuk, and Eleena Zhuk finished 5th at State in 4:16.11, a personal best.
- Kathrin Zhuk finished 6th in the Girls 800m — a top-10 State finish for the sophomore, with more seasons ahead of her.
- Ryder Stevens partnered with Blaze Webb-Solari in the 100m Unified, finishing 6th in the state. Ryder also partnered with JT Pinski in the Shot Put Unified, finishing 7th. Competing at State in Unified events is a genuine achievement and a reflection of what this program stands for beyond the scoreboard.
