Manson posted another win this Friday 38-18 over Oroville. Manson started off cruising to a 24-6 lead, but let Oroville score right before half to make it 24-12. After the half the Trojans again accelerated out to a 38-12 lead. The defense was solid against the run all night. The only answer Oroville had was some scrambles that turned into big plays.
“Overall I was pleased with our effort and ability to overcome some negatives, but the boys know there is still much to work on,” Coach Johanson.
On offense the Trojans racked up 358 yards. 199 on the ground and 159 through the air. Caden Beazley and Bailey Cameron led the rushing charge again, running for a combined total of 153 yards. Caden also punched out his 2nd 100 yard receiving game in as many tries.
“Caden is sort of our home run threat with Bailey being the relentless battering ram. They make a great combo,” said Coach Johanson. “Avery Thompson had an exceptional game with 2 passing touchdowns and 3 rushing touchdowns including a 39 scamper down the sideline.”
It was a great night, but Coach Johanson pointed out there are a few things they still need to improve upon to be competitive in the big games. “Our tackling was a little below par, but that can be expected with inside practices due to smoke. This week I will be looking at getting back to fundamentals. With all that being said, I’m always proud of these guys and it’s huge for our confidence/momentum to start 2-0.”
