Fourteen classes of Limited hydroplanes will be featured at this weekend’s Norm Evans Memorial Apple Cup in Manson. The race also marks the final stop of the NW Pro-lite $10,000 Shootout series.

The Pro-Lite series featured a May race in Chelan with the return of the Apple Cup Regatta and an August race in Pateros. The overall Shootout series winner will earn a $6,000 prize while the second place finisher will receive $2,500 and third place $1,500.

Manson HydroFest is presented by the Manson Chamber of Commerce. Chamber spokesman Jeff Conwell says the community looks forward to hosting this annual event and reminds “admission is free so come on out and enjoy the boat racing as well as other activities that have been scheduled. The public is invited to a Friday afternoon pre-registration party starting at 5pm at Winegirl Wine. This is a great opportunity to meet some of the drivers and crew members and also get an up-close look at some of the race boats. Wine and beer will be available.

Other race related activities will include the “Taste of Manson” featuring wineries, cideries and breweries and a barbecue by the Manson Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to the Pro-Lite division, Manson HydroFest will also feature Vintage hydros, Flatbottoms, Tunnel boats as well as other classifications. While the race can be viewed for free, race day pit passes are available for just $10. For more information on HydroFest you can visit the Chamber website.
