Community invited to ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:00 p.m.

The City of Chelan is excited to announce the grand reopening of Lakeside Park on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., celebrating the completion of a major renovation project that has transformed one of Chelan’s most beloved waterfront destinations.

Community members are invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony and explore the park’s upgraded amenities, including a brand-new ADA-accessible playground.

Located at 2230 Terrace Avenue, Lakeside Park has long been a favorite gathering place for community members and visitors. Following a nine-month renovation, the park now offers enhanced accessibility, improved safety features, and modern amenities while preserving the natural beauty and family-friendly atmosphere that generations of residents have enjoyed.

“We are thrilled to welcome the community back to Lakeside Park,” said Audrey Cooper, Parks & Recreation Director. “This project reflects the City’s commitment to creating accessible, welcoming spaces where families and friends can gather, children can play, and everyone can access Chelan’s incredible waterfront.”

The $1.3 million renovation project included:

  • A completely new ADA-accessible playground
  • Expanded restroom facilities with twice the stall capacity
  • ADA-compliant pathways and site improvements
  • Outdoor handwashing stations
  • Beach and swimming area enhancements
  • A replacement T-dock
  • New landscaping and additional lighting

The improvements were made possible through a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant administered by the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, which is supported by the National Park Service. Combined with matching City funds, many project elements were shaped by community feedback gathered through surveys, workshops, and planning eSorts.

The June 15 celebration will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their families, explore the new amenities, and celebrate the reopening of this cherished community asset.
