You won’t want to miss a full day of “edu-tainment” at the annual Chelan Earth Day Fair, this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Riverwalk Park. This community education and clean up event is organized by the Community Services Work Group, along with sponsoring partnership with the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce.

For 37 years, this event has blossomed into a must-do fun community event for the whole family. Featuring approximately 90 vendors, Chelan Earth Day Fair encourages environmental booths, recycled and up-purposed products, and community support organizations.

There’s live entertainment, children’s activities, educational displays, the annual Chelan Library book sale, plant sale, arts and crafts, food vendors, plus information from Lake Chelan Research Institute, Keep it Blue Lake Chelan, Forest Service and Fire Ecology, Columbia Breaks Fire Interpretive Center, Landscape Conservation, Chelan Douglas Land Trust, Cascadia Conservation District, and much more.

A showase for Electric Vehicles

Among the Earth Day Fair highlights is the growing number of electric vehicles on display.

In past years, there have been a dozen or more EV’s — including a Tesla cyber truck!  Also Nissan Ayira, Toyota BZ4X, Rivian, F150 Lightning, all 4 Teslas, Link van and a few others.

Owners will be on-hand with their electric vehicles for demonstrations and to discuss them with visitors.

Here’s this year’s Earth Day Fair Musical Lineup

9:45 – 10:45 a.m: Jeff McLaren

We’re pleased to welcome Jeff McLaren to our Chelan Earth Day fair stage for the first time.

Jeff is a talented local singer/guitarist who grew up listening to Tom Petty, Neil Young, and Johnny Cash, among others. His music includes a variety of classic rock, country rock, and unique covers. With such a wide variety of artists represented in his set lists, there is a little something for everyone when he performs.

11:00 a.m. – Noon:  Brittany Jean

Singer/songwriter Brittany Jean is based in the Pacific Northwest, currently living in a neighboring apple town on the Columbia River.

Originally from West Chicago, IL, Brittany Jean is rooted in the folk and Americana music she has loved all her life, and in one way or another, every song she writes and sings is a love song.

Brittany has released six studio albums and one EP—all recorded in Nashville.

Her music has taken her across the country many times, from opening for Three Dog Night’s sold-out show in New York City, to playing the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, and the Ol’ Front Porch Music Festival in North Carolina…just to name a few adventures!

Thankful for where music has taken her thus far, Brittany Jean is looking forward to where the road will take her next, new songs to be written, fellow wanderers and storytellers to meet, adventures to be had along the way…and for now, playing on our Earth Day fair stage!

Noon: 4-H Chelan-Manson Fashion Squad

For the second year, the 4-H Chelan-Manson Fashion Squad will grace our fair stage by hosting an Earth Day fair “Trashion” show to highlight fashions made from recycled materials.

The kids are eager to showcase their creativity and sustainability through this fun and eco-friendly project, and you’ll be impressed with the results.

12:30 – 2:00 pm:  Kevin Jones Band

An Earth Day fair tradition, the Kevin Jones Band returns with Kevin on electric and acoustic guitars and vocals, Doyle Wood on electric and acoustic mandolins, Mike Gamble on bass and vocals, and Doug Williams on drums.

Kevin’s vocals and creative virtuosity on guitar sets the stage, add Doyle’s smooth and inspired mandolin work, Mike’s laying it down on bass and Doug’s intuitive rhythms on drums, and you have a full landscape of both fresh original songs and familiar tunes with some rather unique twists.

2:00 – 2:30 p.m:  Feat of Freedom Dance

This dance troupe has a long-standing reputation of being one of the most fun parts of the day with their smiling faces and creative routines. Feat of Freedom provides a healthy and joyful outlet to encourage youth to express themselves via the art of dance.

Guaranteed to put a smile on your face, and you’ll be impressed with the talent of the young dancers.

2:30 – 4:00pm:  pH Factor

We’re excited to have the pH Factor playing at the Chelan Earth Day fair for the first time this year.

Formed in 2010 in Okanogan, pH Factor brings an infectious mix of jazz, Latin, pop and classic rock to the fair this year. Known for tight musicianship and a laid-back vibe, they create a sound that’s nostalgic, refreshingly versatile and a lot of fun.

This multi-talented group features Bob Hougham on Trumpet and Flugelhorn, Nate Brown on Vocals, Andrew Lenowitch on Bass, Jake Pearce on Drums and Don Pearce on Keyboards making for some great music.
Feel free to let your feet move if you find yourself so inclined.
