Girls’ Soccer falls on the road to Bear Creek 5-3

The Goats traveled to Redmond to take on the Bear Creek Grizzlies in a non-league battle. The game was back and forth the entire match. The grizzlies were first to get on the scoreboard with a goal in the 8th minute of play. The Goats rallied back in the in the 17th minute of play with a short and goal by senior Captain Maya Cowan. The battled continued as the Grizzlies went up 2-1. The Goats would continue to press and had a Corner from the left side where Senior captain Jailyn Reinhart placed a perfectly hit ball to the head of Senior Maya Cowan to head the ball into the back of the net. Leaving the game tied 2-2 at the end of the first half.

Going into the second half the Goats came out pressing strong towards the goal. In the 41st minute of play the Grizzlies had a hand ball about 30 yards outside the goal. Sr. Maya Cowan stepped up for the free kick and sent the ball of the Grizzlies goal keepers head to have the Goats go up 3-2. The rest of the game was a hard-fought battle where unfortunately the Grizzlies were able to find the net 3 more times to give them the lead and the win. However, the Goats proved that they can compete and battle with a team who was in the state tournament last year. Each game so far this season the Goats have been learning and growing in their game play.

Tuesday the Goats are on the road again with a trip to Royal city to take on the Knights.
