3-Days of Work will begin May 6; expect intermittent delays

information released

Work to repair multi-modal trail access and ramps near the intersection of US 2/97 and Easy St. in Wenatchee will begin on Monday, May 6.

The project that built Wenatchee’s first multilane roundabout in 2023 also extended a portion of the Apple Capital Trail to tie the trail into intersection improvements. The contractor must now remove approximately 3000 yards of asphalt and 4 sections of concrete that are out of compliance and rebuild them to meet ADA standards. Most of the work will occur off the road, however, replacement of the concrete pad in the pedestrian refuge at the east side of the roundabout will require the overnight closure of the outside lanes of US 2/97. Any work that requires lane closures will occur between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. There will be shoulder closures and lane reductions but no detours for vehicles.

The contractor plans to begin removing sections of the trail that do not meet current ADA standards on May 6. For the three scheduled days of repair, there will be intermittent closures of the crosswalks leading to the roundabout intersection and portions of the trail extension. Pedestrians and bicyclists are encouraged to use other routes during this repair work.

Updates on the work schedule will be shared on the real time travel map.
