Manson went down to Richland on Friday night and were stunned in the first quarter.
Liberty Christian threw for 244 yards in the first quarter and ran up an 18-0 lead. In the 2nd quarter the Trojans made an adjustment to the pass and held LC scoreless. Right before half the Trojans scored on a 12 yard pass to Caden Beazley and converted the 2pt conversion to make it 18-8 at half. Liberty Christian used their onside kicking abilities to their advantage and recovered 4 onside kicks throughout the game. Manson was able to bring the game within reach in the 3rd quarter at 24-14, but fell flat in the 4th quarter. The final score was 32 to 14.
On offense the Trojans were effective running the ball, however they had to run to the pass early which proved to be a disadvantage. “The onside kicks killed us, so we have to work on that this week. I felt our defense adjusted to the pass after the 1st quarter, but there are still some things we need to work on as well. We also need to find another threat on offense. Avery Thompson can get the ball to anyone, but we need guys ready to make the big play,” said Coach Johanson.
“The best part is that the boys battled all night long and we still had a good game on our hands in the 4th quarter.”
The Trojans next play on Friday at Wilbur-Creston.
