Winthrop Welcomes Visitors Despite Delayed SR 20 Reopening
The Town of Winthrop is encouraging travelers to continue visiting the Methow Valley this spring and summer despite the delayed reopening of State Route 20/North Cascades Highway following the significant winter storm damage on the pass.
While the North Cascades Highway remains temporarily closed on the east side from mile post 156 (Porcupine Creek), Winthrop remains fully accessible through several scenic alternative routes that showcase some of Washington’s most breathtaking landscapes.
Visitors can access Winthrop from the coast through alternate routes via Stevens Pass, Blewett Pass, or Interstate 90, each offering unique scenery, roadside stops, and opportunities to explore more of Washington along the way. Local businesses, restaurants, outfitters, lodging properties, and shops remain open and ready to welcome guests throughout the season.
