Connecting the people and their stories with unique vehicles that celebrate the lowrider culture

information released

As Cultura on the Lake returns to Historic Downtown Chelan on Saturday, August 29, the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce are expanding this year’s event with new experiences that celebrate the stories, traditions, and artistry behind lowrider culture.

Following the announcement of the event earlier this summer, the Chamber is unveiling additional programming, including a special film screening and an expanded awards ceremony.

What to Expect

The festivities begin with the Low & Slow Cruise at 4:15pm, as dozens of lowriders, classic cars, street trucks roll through Historic Downtown Chelan before parking along Woodin Avenue for the evening showcase.

The Cultura Awards begin at 8pm and will recognize outstanding craftsmanship, dedication, and attention to detail across multiple vehicle categories. The awards celebrate the dedication and pride that define the lowrider community.

Special Screening

After the awards, is a special screening called Roll Modelz, an award-winning short documentary about how the often misunderstood culture of lowrider cars brings people together, especially during times of loss.

This film tells the story of the WA State Lowriders Car Club based in Walla Walla, and how they honor the memory of Mya Kay Avila. Club members will be in attendance at the car show.

New this year, from 8:30-10pm, the streets stay alive. Bring your family to dance the night away and take in displays of stunning lowriders throughout the evening.

“Cultura on the Lake continues to grow because people connect with the stories behind these incredible vehicles,” said Mike Steele, Executive Director of the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s a celebration of craftsmanship, family, heritage, and community, and we’re excited to bring even more experiences to this year’s event.”

Cultura on the Lake is free to attend and welcomes visitors of all ages. Organizers encourage guests to arrive early, enjoy dinner downtown, explore local shops and wineries, and stay for the full evening of entertainment.
