Chelan Announces Student-Athletes of the Week
Submitted by CHS Athletic Director, Rob Rainville
Coaches nominate individuals for outstanding effort and participation. CHS and CMS are pleased to recognize Student-Athletes of the Week, and present the nomination write-up from their coaches.
Each student-athlete winner will be given a BC MacDonalds gift card for a free cheeseburger, fries and drink. Chelan Schools appreciates the generosity of Afni and Brent MacDonald for their support of the Lake Chelan School District and Chelan Athletics.
Congratulations to our Student-Athletes of the week. Thanks to all of you, for all your support, and we look forward to seeing everyone this week supporting Chelan Athletics.

Tate has played great defense all season against tough competition. He works hard on the boards and can be counted on for double digit rebounds in most games. Tate is a hard worker who is always striving to improve his game. – Coach Boyd

Cade has been an incredible addition to the Chelan Basketball family. He has an awesome attitude and he loves to compete! He’s done a good job adapting to a new school and showing everyone what a great guy he is.
Cade is averaging 18.0 pts in his first two games with the Goats!! Thanks for being a great teammate, Cade!! – Coach Pearl
NOMINEES
7th Grade Boys Basketball – Bryce Hampton
Bryce has worked hard since the beginning of the season. He is one of the leaders on the team. He runs the floor hard and is a great rebounder. – Coach Haerling
HS Girls Basketball – The Chelan Girls Varsity Basketball Team
The team as a “whole” is my vote for the Student-Athlete of the week. The Girls are buying in to a new system with a new coaching staff. They have approached the season with an open mind and a willingness to play unselfishly. I have had multiple people say that the team is playing together and they are fun to watch. At the first practice, the girls established 3 core principles that would identify Chelan Girls Basketball. They are Trust, Effort, and Selflessness. The girls work hard every day in practice and during games to follow through with these principles.
Last week they started the season with two wins. It is apparent that they are playing hard for each other, trusting each other on the court, and passing up good shots for great shots. – Coach Huddleston
HS Wrestling – Angel Mendoza
Angel went 3-1 at the tournament last weekend. He works hard, and had to fight to get those wins. He gives 100% every day in practice. – Coach Jordan
