Girls’ softball loses

After dropping their season opener to Wenatchee, the Chelan baseball team has responded with three consecutive wins. The Goats beat the Brewster Bears 10-0 on Tuesday behind the complete game shutout of pitcher Dillon McCardle.

McCardle allowed only two base hits and struck out seven. Coach Dana Papasedero reports the Chelan offense was led by the two hits each of Reed Stamps and Quinn McLaren. The Goats next game will be a CTL matchup with Quincy in a double-header on Saturday at Mountain Goat Field starting at 11 am.

Meanwhile, in Girls softball play, Chelan lost 27-0 to a powerful visiting team from Royal to see their record drop to 0-4.  Chelan Coach Allison Flaten said the Lady Goats had multiiple outstanding defensive plays and some good offensive moments.

Flaten pointed out excellent pitching by Kira Sandoval, who also had two base hits, as well as impressive play in center field by Katie Rainville and also solid work behind the plate by catcher Taryn Sweeney.

Chelan softball will play their next game in Mattawa on Tuesday, April 27 versus Wahluke starting at 4 pm.
