Chelan County Deputy praised for potentially life-saving actions
information released
On March 28, 2026, at approximately 9:12 p.m., Chelan County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a report of an accidental shooting in the 7500 block of Highway 2 in Dryden.
The investigation indicated a male resident had recently purchased a handgun and was inspecting it when he pulled the trigger. Believing the firearm to be unloaded, he unintentionally discharged the weapon, striking himself in the hand. The bullet then passed through his hand, struck a second individual in the buttocks, and ultimately came to rest in the leg of a third person.
All three individuals were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It was later determined that the prompt application of a tourniquet by a responding Chelan County deputy likely saved the life of the individual who sustained the leg injury.
We would like to commend Deputy Davis for his quick thinking and decisive actions, which played a critical role in preserving the victim’s life. We would also like to take this opportunity to remind the public to treat guns as if they are always loaded and never point them at anything they don’t want to shoot.
