The Manson Trojans met a tough Lake Roosevelt team on Friday night. Manson played a physical game and the score does not represent how hard Lake Roosevelt had to work for the win. Lake Roosevelt had the first score to go up 7-0, but then a 93 yard kickoff return for touchdown by Marco Sanchez evened up the score 7-7. Lake Roosevelt scored again right before half to make it 13-7. In the 2nd half Lake Roosevelt slowly put points on the board, ending the game at 33 – 7, but the Trojans battled all night.
“The boys showed a lot of heart tonight and showed what it means to be a Manson Trojan. I am extremely proud of how hard we battled and at the end of the night I know each player left everything they had out on the field!” said Coach Johanson. “After last week’s blowout loss it would have been easy to throw in the towel, but these guys know they are better than that!”
The defense played a great game and stymied QB Stephen Flowers all night. “We saw a level of frustration on Lake Roosevelt’s sideline which is always great as a coach.” Defensive Ends Bailey Cameron and Parker Schoenwald played great games at defensive end and were really the tone setters on defense. Additionally, Bryan Bernardo continues to hold the middle down at Defensive Tackle. “It’s really a great advantage when you have a defensive line that can shut down the run game” remarked Coach Johanson.
Looking ahead: The Trojans have a bye week next week and wrap up the regular season at Liberty Bell on October 26th. The Trojans have already secured a crossover playoff game and the team looks to build on tonight’s momentum.
