GO PIRATES/GO GOATS!
Olivia Strandberg –8th Volleyball
Olivia leads by example day in and day out. Practice, matches and in the classroom. She is a constant supporter of all her teammates and helps them reach the next level. Olivia has lead the team in serving all season and had one set where she served 20 in a row.
We appreciate how hard Olivia works to continue to improve her game and we are excited for her future! – Coach Reister
Ella Polley -CHS X-Country
Ella Polley ran a spectacular race at the Nike Hole in the Wall.
She beat her last years’ time by over a minute and her all-time fastest 5K by over 40 seconds. – Coaches Anderson/Fox
Congratulations to all the Nominees. Here’s what your coaches had to say about your hard work and extra effort.
CHS NOMINEES
Mia Bordner – Soccer
Mia has been playing tough all season, and leading the team from the defense. She is an exceptional player, captain, student, and teammate and Chelan soccer is lucky to have her. Mia works tirelessly all game to keep the ball out of the back third and never gives up even if things don’t go our way. Thursday against Omak she played hard the entire game until a wrist injury forced her to come off the field at the end. In true Mia fashion, she was still positive and encouraging her teammates on from the bench. We hope her wrist heals quickly as we’ll be missing her this week on the back line. – Coach Williams
Emma McLaren – Volleyball
She helped Chelan take down a dominate Cascade team. We handed them their first league loss in five years. Emma was a big part of making that happen. She had 10 kills, 10 digs, 100% (19/19) serving with 6 ace serves. She continued to lead the Lady Goats with a win against Omak. She had 7 kills, 5 digs and again was 100% (18/18) from the service line with 4 ace serves. Emma is also one of the top serve receive players on the team. She is enthusiastic and always encouraging her teammates. – Coach Jenifer Rainville
Chris Knight – XC
Chris Knight continues to impress. Last week at the Nike Hole in the Wall meet he not only ran a personal best for a 5K time but he also beat his 2 mile track personal best at the 2mile mark. – Coaches Anderson/Fox
Kyle Jackson – Football
Kyle played extremely hard on Friday night leading his team in tackles and pass break ups. Kyle is also a very positive leader for his team when things are going well and when our backs are against the wall. – Coach Domser
CMS NOMINEES
Tristan Sanderson – XC
Tristan surprised us all in his debut cross country race by easily taking first place in a field of 60 sixth grade boy runners. Tristan is undoubtedly an excellent runner and we are excited to see what he can do in the years to come. His great attitude and work ethic will take him far in the sport of cross country. – Coach Polley
Lance Gogal – 7th grade football
Lance shows great play on the line, respect for his teammates and tremendous effort in all he does. Does the work even when no one is watching. – Coach Harris
Ester Trimble – 7th Volleyball
Ester gets this week’s nomination for her perseverance at the service line. Ester has been working hard to get the ball over the net, and she finally achieved getting that one serve over during practice, however, with relentless work, Ester rose to the occasion this week during a scrimmage. She served more than 5 in a row, which gave her confidence and allowed her to change her goals to higher expectations. Anyone who struggles with serving will understand the amazing accomplishment and relief that comes with this success. We were not sure who was more proud of her, her team, her coaches or herself. We couldn’t be more proud of her as she continues to grow as a player and a very supportive teammate. That’a girl Ester! – Coaches Gleasman, Spanjer and Christopherson
Aaliyha Espana – 7th Volleyball
Aaliyha is a great candidate for player of the week. Aaliyha plays with heart and soul, and is competitive in every aspect of the game. She is willing to be a better athlete and strives to make sure her team comes out on top. The aggressive play she shows is a natural instinct for her on the court. She works hard, goes after every ball and celebrates the good with the not so good! It is a pleasure to watch an athlete continue to grow in all areas of the game and Aaliyha will be a player to watch in the future as she continues her volleyball journey. We are thrilled for her to be nominated for athlete of the week. Way to go Aaliya – Coaches Gleasman, Spanjer and Christopherson
Alonso Benegas – 8th Football
Our inside threat, Alonzo Benegas made huge stops on defense to help hold Eastmont to few inside runs. Because of Alonzo Eastmont was forced to run the ball to the outside. – Coach Plummer
