CHS X-Co Teams Both Place Third at King’s Cross Invitational

On Saturday, September 22nd, the Boys and Girls Cross Country team traveled to Shoreline for the King Cross Invitational. Both teams ran well earning them each third place among several private and public schools from the west side.
On the Boys’ side Chris Knight ran the race of his career placing second with a swift time of 16:52 on the hilly three mile course. In the first mile Chris ran with the second pack of runners but made his move. He challenged the leader in the last 800 meter, but came up short of the win.
Anndrick Espana also earned a spot on the podium with a seventh place finish. He was 25th and consistently picked runners off throughout the course and finished with a time of 17:28. Ezequiel Campos place third for the team a step ahead of freshman Logan Lemming. It was their first race of the season. Rounding out varsity was Ivan Duenas and Antonio Carzarez.
In the JV race Noah Christiansen placed ninth. Freshmen Nate Harding and Sam Gilliland also had great races.
Teegan Silva for a second race in a row also earned a spot on the podium. She placed eighth with a time of 21:21.
Rosa Lopez and Emilie Barnes just missed ribbons placing sixteenth and eighteenth respectively. The rest of the team came in close together Ella Polley (22), Molly Oswald (24), Lana Fielding (26) and Ashlyn Sanderson (27) out of a field of 61 runners. Audrey Gilliland (60) finished strong.
Both teams travel to Marysville on Saturday September 29th for the Nike Twilight invitational.
