City Council Workshops and Meetings, Planning Commission, and Parks Advisory Board all to begin at 5:15 p.m.

information released

To enhance accessibility and encourage greater public participation, the City of Chelan is standardizing the start time for all City Council and advisory board meetings to 5:15 p.m.

This change goes into effect with the City Council Workshop on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

The new meeting schedule is as follows:

  • City Council Workshop – 1st Tuesday of each month at 5:15 p.m. at City Hall
  • City Council Meetings – 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 5:15 p.m. at City Hall
  • Planning Commission – 3rd Wednesday of each month at 5:15 p.m. at City Hall
  • Parks Advisory Board – 3rd Thursday of each month at 5:15 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation Office

The shift to a uniform meeting time ensures that residents can more easily attend after work, increasing community engagement in local decision-making. This change is especially relevant as three City Council seats will be up for election this year.

By standardizing meetings to 5:15 p.m., the City is making it more feasible for residents with traditional work schedules to serve in elected office without conflicting with their job responsibilities. Ensuring that public service remains accessible to a broader range of community members helps create a more representative and inclusive local government.

Residents interested in running for office can apply through the Chelan County Elections Office during the filing period from May 5-9, 2025. More information can be found at: https://www.co.chelan.wa.us/elections/pages/candidate-resources.
