Trojans Hosted Home League Double-Header vs. Brewster on Saturday

In the aftermath of back to back losses against a tough Brewster team, the Manson Coaches praised their teams’ high level of effort, sportsmanship and class.

Game #1 – Manson 1 Brewster 8

The Trojans welcomed the Bears of Brewster to Singleton Park in Manson for a Saturday double-header. The baseball field was wet, but playable and the Trojan Dogs were again on the menu between games.

Junior Avery Thompson climbed the hill for the start in game 1 and junior Jose Pascasio did the catching.

Thompson pitched 6 1/3 strong innings, giving up 7 runs on 6 hits, using 104 pitches, striking out 5 and walking 2.

Zach Serafini saw a relief appearance of 2/3 inning, giving up 0 runs on 2 hits, using 9 pitches, with no strike outs or walks.

Offensively the Trojans scored 1 run on 1 hit. The lone Trojan hit was a hard hit double to the fence by Avery Thompson.

Defensively the Trojans played well, but recorded 4 errors. The game’s web-gem belonged to the Trojans’ center fielder Victor Calderon who made one of the best catches of the year on a very difficult over the shoulder ball.

The Trojans set the example of good sportsmanship in game 1 by playing with a high level of class and competitiveness.

Game #2 – Manson 1 Brewster 16

Jose Pascasio started for the Trojans in game 2. And the starting catcher was Caden Beazley.

Pascasio threw 3 1/3 innings, giving up 11 runs on 7 hits, using 61 pitches, striking out 2 and walking 2.

Making his second pitching appearance in relief was senior Zach Serafini who pitched 1 2/3 innings, giving up 5 runs on 3 hits, using 29 pitches, striking out 1 and walking 1.

Offensively the Trojans scored 1 run on 2 hits. Senior Marcus Bernardo had a deep hit ball to the fence that sailed over the right fielder’s head. And the Trojans scored their only run on a beautiful suicide squeeze bunt by freshman Caden Beazley to score Parker Schoenwald.

Defensively the Trojans recorded 5 errors.

Avery Thompson turned in a web-gem when he doubled up a runner at second after snagging a hard hit line drive and then had to dive at the runner heading back to the base.

Again in game 2, the Trojans showed what excellent sportsmanship and class looks like on the ball field.

The Trojan’s next scheduled game is a Single-Header at Singleton Park in Manson on Tuesday, May 1st starting at 4:00 pm. This is the final regular season game for the Trojans and also senior night. Come join us as we honor our seniors and celebrate their accomplishments!
