The Chelan girls’ district tournament medalists from last weekend traveled to Deer Park HS on Saturday for the CTL vs NEA crossover matches. These matches were winner to state/loser out. Both Chelan entrants punched their ticket to state today in dominant fashion!
In girls singles, senior Maya Cowan defeated Ava Van Veen of Deer Park 6-0, 6-2. This will be Maya’s 2nd trip to the state tournament, but her maiden voyage in singles. In 2023, Maya and teammate Piper Grossberg took 2nd place in girls doubles.
In girls doubles for 2024, seniors Ellie McLemore and Josie Garfoot won over Emma Hollen and Claire Berryman of Freeman 6-1, 6-3. This will be Ellie and Josie’s first trip to the state tournament.
They’ll be joining boys players Rylen Moody (#1 seed), and alternates George Neff, Ian Garfoot and Cray Silva.
In the other crossover matches, Cashmere’s Faith Kert defeated Sophia Stott of Newport, and Omak’s Finley Sackman/Paityn Richter won over Kytle/King of Colville. So, the CTL swept the NEA today 4-0 in the crossover matches.
