Goats and Lady Goats Participate in Gamble Sands Invite

Information submitted by CHS Golf Coach Kirk Einspahr

Everyone was happy to see the sun with little to no wind at Gamble Sands at Thursday’s Invite!

Girls Team Recap

Conditions were great as we hosted 101 girls from schools all across the state.

Individual winners include Chelan’s top scorer, sophomore Kaylin Boykin with a 99 in her first “Gamble Sands experience.”

Our other girls struggled a bit as several nasty sand traps claimed them as victims…! Cascade girls had a superb outing with some personal bests, and a team score of 407, coming in ahead of Chelan by 60 strokes.

Next week we return to league play, traveling to the Omak/Okanogan course (currently only 6 holes playable) on Tuesday and Thursday for 18 hole matches.

Boys Team Recap

Chelan’s top three boys did well today, shooting 79 (Miles G), 84 (Corbin M) and 92 (Seth H).

The weather cooperated, though a chilly start this morning, and the winds they had yesterday never materialized. We had 140 boys today and a great field of competition.

We had a hole in one, and the winning team (Everett) shot a team score (4 players) below 300 (294). All in all a great day and a great tournament.

A big “thanks” to Amber Finch for running both today’s boys tournament and tomorrow’s girls tournament.
