Travelers should consider alternate routes
information released
A severe storm event the afternoon of Monday, July 10 caused a washout of US 2 east of the intersection of Coulee Meadows Road.
The storm caused flash flooding in the area and washed away a portion of the westbound lane of US 2 at milepost 171 between Waterville and Coulee City. Due to the location and extent of the washout, the highway is closed between the junction of US 2 and State Route 172 at Farmer (milepost 163) and the junction of US 2 and SR 17 (milepost 187). There is no estimated reopening.
Travelers should use SR 17 north to SR 172 or SR 17 south to SR 28 as an alternate route.
Updates will be shared on the WSDOT real time travel map and on Twitter at @WSDOT_East.
