Orondo Fire Responds to SUV and Semi Trailer Collision

At 2:40 PM Friday afternoon Orondo Fire responded to a two-vehicle fatality auto accident on US Highway 2 one mile south of Orondo. On arrival responding units found a serous auto accident involving an SUV and Semi Tractor Trailer completely blocking the highway.
Immediate care was given to patients on scene as well as controlling a large diesel spill from the fuel tanks of the semi tractor. Firefighters were able to plug the flow with a patching putty and then contain the diesel with absorbent. A charged fire line was staffed at the scene while crews were working on the flammable spill.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident. Orondo Fire responded with nine firefighters and four apparatus as well as four EMS from Ballard Ambulance.
