Lane closures scheduled for Saturday and Sunday

information released by WSDOT

This weekend, a bridge crew with the Washington State Department of Transportation will close the outside lanes and pedestrian access of the SR 285 George Sellar Bridge for bridge washing activities.

Work is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The cleaning work removes dirt, debris, and litter from the steel structure to prevent build up and to provide a clear view of the connection points for an inspection team that will follow this work. Although this is typically an annual effort, the crew was not able to clean the bridge last year because of Covid-19 work restrictions.

Travelers should plan for slightly longer travel times crossing the bridge this weekend. Pedestrians can use the Columbia River Bridge on the Apple Capital Loop Trail north of the George Sellar Bridge to cross the river during working hours.

Any changes to the work will be shared on the travel alert page and on Twitter @WSDOT_East.

Editor’s Note: The bridge work on George Sellar Bridge coincides with work being done in the Olds Station area as well. Travelers trying to access Hwy. 2/97 between Chelan and Wenatchee on the Douglas County side or 97-A on the Chelan County side should anticipate delays through the weekend.
