Gusty winds expected Saturday, snow on Sunday into Monday

According to the National Weather Service, winds are expected increase Saturday morning, be strongest late morning through early afternoon, and then decrease thereafter. Winds are expected to gusts as high as 35-45 mph over the Upper Columbia Basin, Spokane Area, and Palouse. Travel across Highway 12 over Alpowa Summit will see the potential for wind gusts as strong as 50 mph.

On Sunday, moderate to heavy snowfall will impact the Cascade and Idaho Panhandle Mountain and mountain passes. Travel over the passes will be difficult. Please check conditions before heading out and plan for potential delays. Snow levels will lower Monday with snow returning to some Idaho valleys.

The Northwest Avalanche Center + Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center have issued Avalanche Warnings. Times differ so please be sure to check with the regional center that applies to you.
