Alternative Locations for Mail Pick Up are Available

The Pioneer Fire affecting Chelan County has caused the temporary closure of the Stehekin Post Office location.
All mail and retail service operations for the Stehekin Post Office have been moved to the Chelan Post Office, located at 144 E. Johnson Av., Chelan, 98816.
However, the Postal Service understands the Stehekin community is only accessible by boat, and the remote location can make it difficult for some customers to make a daily trip to Chelan to retrieve their mail.
With that in mind, the Stehekin Postmaster will be at the main boat dock Monday – Saturday, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. with residents’ mail and packages — slight adjustments may be made for the ferry schedule. Customers who wish to retrieve their mail from the Postmaster may do so within this scheduled window.
Any mail not picked up will be transported back to Chelan for safekeeping and brought back the next business day. PCT hikers must collect their items in Chelan and cannot pick up their items at the main boat dock.
The schedule and location may change for safety reasons because of the unpredictability of the situation.
The Chelan Post Office is open for retail operations, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Customers are reminded to bring a proper photo ID in order to make mail and package pickups at both the boat dock and the Chelan Post Office.
Retail services, such as temporary mail forwarding — if needed — or stamps, can be found at the Chelan Post Office location. And many services are also available online at usps.com.
It is the duty of the Postal Service to protect the security and sanctity of the mail for our customers. We are closely monitoring the situation and will reevaluate mail delivery to Stehekin with updates communicated as needed.
We apologize for this inconvenience to our customers and plan to have the Stehekin Post Office reopened and fully operational as soon as it is safe to do so.
