Pre-winter maintenance will close US 2 west of Leavenworth for the day

On Wednesday, Sept. 27, the Washington State Department of Transportation will close US 2 from milepost 84 to 99 to perform time sensitive highway maintenance between Coles Corner and Leavenworth.
The closure allows WSDOT crews to expedite pre-winter maintenance in several work zones through Tumwater Canyon, including hazard tree removal, shoulder and ditch clearing, guardrail and pavement repair.
During the closure, passenger vehicles can detour on Chumstick Highway, however this is a local road and not appropriate for freight. Freight needing access east of Leavenworth during the closure should use I-90 Snoqualmie to US 97 Blewett and approach on US 2 westbound.
The closure is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday only. For the safety of the public and crews, all travelers including bicyclists and pedestrians must stay out of the closure area.
