“Food2Schools Friday” Weekend Meals from 5-7 p.m. at Chelan High School and Manson Elementary

Information released; LCN photos

Thrive’s first “Food2Schools Friday” was a huge success! A team of big-hearted volunteers sprang into action to serve over 325 meals to local students. Thanks to the support of our generous communities, we are prepared to distribute 400 bags this Friday. It was wonderful to share a smile and a meal with so many students. We’re looking forward to doing it again this week!

Meals are distributed on Fridays from 5-7 pm at Chelan High School and Manson Elementary.

We’d like to extend appreciation to our phenomenal volunteer teams:

Chelan Site

  • Nesha Bremmeyer (Team Lead)
  • Sarah Barnes
  • Tim Cote

The Weekend Bag contains items such as granola bars, easy mac, ramen and other quick to fix foods.

We also want to give a big shoutout to both Jeanna Smith (Lake Chelan School District) and Robin Hanson (Manson School District) not only for supporting our efforts with Food2Schools but also for all the hard work they are putting in to ensure local students are fed breakfast and lunch during the week! You are true heroes and we are incredibly thankful for you both!

We will continue to support students with this method of distribution as long as there is a need as we have the resources to do so. Some experts are anticipating that school closures may extend even longer than the six-week period. We also know that many local families are being impacted by layoffs from employment, which could add another layer of stress for our youth.

We continue to seek support for this program via grants and donations. If you or someone you know would like to support our efforts, please feel free to visit our website at: thrivechelanvalley.com/gives
