Multi-phase project for Downtown Manson underway

information and photos released by the Manson Chamber of Commerce

If you’ve been in Manson recently, you may have noticed that things are happening!

The Manson Chamber of Commerce is working hard on a multi-phase project for Downtown Manson. During Phase 1, they received a grant from Chelan County specifically for capital improvements, and had the uncared for trees removed from the downtown sidewalks from Wapato Point Parkway to Pedoi St. That work was done by BCD Contracting & Tree Service of Manson in 2023. It was just the start of a plan to clean-up and revitalize the downtown core. Bids were received and jobs have been granted; work has begun on Phase 2!

Antonio’s Landscaping & Rock Walls of Manson is doing the hardscape on the tree beds and planter areas. In addition to this their work will include cleaning all of the downtown sidewalks, move the existing garbage cans to proper places, and then install beautiful, new benches in the historic downtown corridor. While all this is taking place, the talented folks at Wenatchee’s American Quality Coatings will be renewing all the old green light poles to something new and fresh.

As you know, Manson is an unincorporated community of Chelan County. There are many things that are taken for granted in a CITY that are not the responsibility of County officials or County dollars. If you want work done in Manson it takes a tremendous amount of volunteer time which comes to us under the name of the Manson Chamber of Commerce.

With input at two Manson community forums hosted by “the Chamber,” Community Development Team, Timi Starkweather, Tom Tochterman, & Kim Ustanik garnered the volunteer support of Gerry Ustanik who is the project manager bringing all the paid and unpaid entities together to get the job done. The staff throughout Chelan County have been wonderful to work with, the contractors have been eager and excited to do an excellent job, and there’s a little buzz going on around downtown!

Color pallets have been chosen and work is ongoing as “the Chamber” completes Phase 2 and moves into future phases of this project that plans to bring new life to downtown Manson. Keep your eyes and ears open! We think you’ll like what you see taking place!
