Join Councilman Ray Dobbs and LCN’s Dennis Rahm on a Fun Bus Ride-along

by Dennis Rahm

Earlier this month Link Transit implemented a free bus shuttle service offering a 30-minute loop route from Lakeside Park to Don Morse Park with overflow parking available at Chelan High School. The bus also connects with Link Route 21 which provides service between Manson, Chelan, Entiat and Wenatchee.

A few days ago, I decided to take the 30-minute Fun Bus shuttle and was joined on the ride-along by Chelan City Councilman and Link Board member Ray Dobbs.

Dobbs explains that the pilot program is designed to help ease some of the parking and traffic issues during the busy summer months in Chelan.

The Fun Bus can help alleviate summer parking and traffic issues

Dobbs notes that the future of the free shuttle will be dependent on how much it is used the remainder of this summer.

The challenge is getting the word out so that the service will be utilized by residents and visitors alike. The Fun Bus isn’t particularly eye-catching as it lacks a “fun bus” logo and specific reader board, but Dobbs says just look for the smaller white Link bus and drivers will be on the lookout for passengers.

Free Shuttle: If we don’t use it, we will lose it.

In addition to the two park stops, the route also includes drop-off and pick up near other popular attractions such as Slidewaters and historic downtown Chelan.
