Mike Steele (12th District Representative and ranking member of the Capital Budget Committee) announced the inclusion of $1.723 million to support the continuing construction of The Community Center at Lake Chelan. The funds will be available to the Seven Acres Foundation – nonprofit developers of the 46,000 square foot facility – in the coming months. They will ensure sustained momentum toward the anticipated opening of the center this fall.

Among those expressing gratitude for the funding was Seven Acres Board President Ben Williams.

“Thanks to Representative Mike Steele, this grant will enable 100% funding and construction to occupancy of the first phase of the Community Center at Lake Chelan, the core of this project. In addition, the grant will serve as a springboard for the completion of the rest of the project, so this funding is essential to our vision of bringing people together to enhance the quality of life in the Chelan Valley.”

Fundraising to complete the center continues, focusing on gym finishes, parking lot, and landscaping.

The Community Center at Lake Chelan sits on a six-acre campus at 103 Big Horn Way between Chelan and Manson. Amenities and services within the facilities will include a full-size gym/auditorium, indoor children’s play area, meeting and event rooms, workspace center, coffee shop, commercial kitchen, and office spaces, which will be affordable and targeted to nonprofits, start-ups, and local businesses. The campus includes outdoor courts, an event lawn, and a 25-yard multi-lane swimming pool that provides the opportunity for aquatic therapy, fitness, and swimming lessons in the safety of a swimming pool.

Representative Steele said, “I am excited to provide additional funding for the Community Center at Lake Chelan. I want to see this project continue to progress, and I look forward to the community asset it will become.”
