National Weather Service Issues a Winter Storm Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect from 4 p.m. this Afternoon to 4 a.m. Saturday for the Cascade Crest including Highway 2 between Coles Corner and Stevens Pass and Highway 20 from Mazama to Washington Pass. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet with winds gusting as high as 50 mph are possible in the higher elevations.
A storm system will move in tonight with snow increasing over the Cascade Mountains. Heavy snow is expected to occur near the Cascade Crest with winter travel conditions expected on portions of Highway 2 (Stevens Pass) and Highway 20 (North Cascades Highway). The Washington State Department of Transportation also indicates I-90 – Snoqualmie Pass is expecting large accumulations of snow.
Impacts include snow covered roads and blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult with delays possible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Fill your gas tank and keep your cell phone charged.
