Car recovered and suspect taken into custody

Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison reports, on 2/4/24, at approximately 4:21 pm, Deputies took a report from a citizen at the Jerry’s Auto Supply in Chelan, WA.  The citizen advised that they loaned their car to a friend and it had not been returned.  The vehicle was confirmed to have been taken and driven by another subject.

A short time after receiving this information another deputy located that vehicle in Entiat, WA and attempted a stop on the vehicle.  The vehicle did not stop and fled from the Deputy.  The Deputy did not pursue due to current Washington State laws.

Through investigation, Deputies learned the suspect who was driving the vehicle and fled from the Deputy was identified as Joey Reyes, a 47 year old male from Quincy,WA.

On 2/5/24, at approximately 1136 hours, a CCSO Deputy located the vehicle and suspect in the 300 block of E. Wapato Ave in Chelan, WA.  Reyes was taken into custody and charged with Eluding and Driving with a License Suspended 3rd degree.  Reyes also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

Though state laws attempt to suppress effective law enforcement, Chelan County Deputies will continue to investigate, locate and arrest subjects who commit crimes within our communities.
