Driver Self-Extricated and was Treated at the Scene

3-20-20: Orondo, WA. Just after 11:30 Friday morning, Orondo Fire Responded to the report of an auto accident on McNeil Canyon Road two miles from the Beebe Bridge. On arrival firefighters found a Semi Delivery truck overturned in the ditch with extensive damage. The driver was able to exit the crushed cab on his own and was treated at the scene by Lake Chelan EMS.
The truck was hauling a load of furniture to Chelan proceeding down McNeil Canyon when it lost its brakes. The truck was not able to make the final s-curves at the bottom of the canyon and overturned in the roadway going upside down into the ditch. The box broke open spilling furniture onto the highway. On arrival all of the brakes were smoking with fire on one of the rear tires.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.
