Crews are scheduling work in Wenatchee, Leavenworth, Chelan, Entiat and Cashmere

Information submitted by Chelan County Public Works

ROAD ALERT: The county preservation crew will be working in Wenatchee next week. Residents in the work zones are asked to remove all vehicles, including trailers and RVs, from the roadway when crews are scheduled to be in their neighborhood.

Crews will work 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The tentative schedule, which is highly dependent on weather conditions and equipment performance, is as follows:

  • Monday, Sept. 9: Terminal Avenue, South Mission Street and Boodry Street.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 10: Beuzer Street, Chapman Drive and South Wenatchee Avenue.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 11: Walnut Place, Walnut Court, Harris Place, Stella Avenue, Norman Street, Sorensen Avenue and Locust Street.

During paving, the roadway will be at one lane, with a flagger directing traffic. Minor traffic delays may occur. Please avoid the area if you can. The impacted roads are in yellow on the county’s road preservation map. The crew is pre-leveling roads that are scheduled for chip sealing next summer. During the pre-level process, a thin layer of asphalt is applied over a road to fill in ruts and low spots in preparation for chip sealing.

The following is a list of regularly scheduled maintenance for Chelan County Public Works for the week of Sept. 9, 2019.

Maintenance plans may change with weather conditions or equipment difficulties. Visit the Public Works website, where the weekly road maintenance information is regularly updated.

District 1 (Wenatchee): Crews will be doing pre-level work on 2020 Preservation Roads. (See above.)

District 2 (Cashmere): Crews will be working on the preservation crew in the Wenatchee District. In the Cashmere District, they will be doing shoulder work on recently pre-leveled roads as well as hand patching district wide.

District 3 (Leavenworth): Crews will be blade patching on portions of Chumstick Highway and hand patching district wide; repairing a drainage on High Street and a shoulder on Eagle Creek Road; and brushing upper snow plow routes. While brushing, the roadway will be one lane, with a flagger controlling traffic. Crews also will be assisting with pre-leveling in the Wenatchee District as needed.

District 4 (Entiat): The crew will be mowing in the district’s canyons as well as helping with the preservation crew in Wenatchee.

District 5 (Chelan): Crews will be crack sealing on Swartout Road, Madeline Road; Boetzkes Avenue, Chace Avenue, Olive Avenue and Pinecrest Place. While crack sealing, the road will be at one lane, with a flagger controlling traffic. Plan for minor delays.

The crew also will be ditching on Shady Pass Road (one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic in the work area), hand patching in the Apple Acres area and brushing in the Manson area.
