The 2nd Annual Tony Memorial Golf Scramble is scheduled for Saturday, September 14th at the Lake Chelan Golf Course. The Tournament is being held to honor long time volunteer, Tony Berger who was a tireless supporter of Lake Chelan Men’s and Senior Men’s Golf Club events and community related activities.
Tony was a passionate, dedicated, social and active person which included coaching, serving on the Issaquah Little League Board, being active with several professional organizations, managing golf tournament fundraising events, serving in leadership positions with both the Snoqualmie Falls Men’s Golf Club and the Lake Chelan Men’s Golf Club, and for many years arranging for a large number of friends to travel to Lake Chelan every summer for the Member/Guest Golf Tournament.
After retiring from Simpson Timber Company as Manager of Information Services, Tony and Patricia Berger began to split their time between Issaquah and Chelan. At which point he became a fixture up at Lake Chelan Golf Course recording over 100 rounds some years.
Tony’s claim to fame included being an extra in a John Wayne movie, posting two Hole-in-One shots, thinking there was never a putt he couldn’t make, participating in high dollar Calcutta Team Betting in conjunction with golf tournaments, solving the world’s problems through a conservative lens, placing money bets with golfing partners, being a mentor to many golfer friends, and being a highly competitive golfer.
The Tony Berger Memorial Bench is being placed on Hole #12 at the Lake Chelan Golf Course because Tony recorded one of his Hole-in-One shots on this 251 yard, Par 4 hole.

Tony was a graduate of North Dakota State University and he never missed an opportunity to talk up his college’s sports teams. Tony was a passionate alum which included his NDSU golf bag. And, Tony would always remind fellow golfers his NDSU Bisons had won several Division 1 National Football Championships.
Most importantly, Tony was dedicated to his family which included coaching his son, Mike Berger and teaming with him in many two-man team golf tournaments. Tony also enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, watching Diesel play sports and golfing with Diesel.
