The public is invited to comment on a preliminary proposal to reroute approximately 0.25 mile of the Stehekin Valley Road at milepost 5.5 in Lake Chelan National Recreation Area. The National Park Service (NPS) is planning this project in partnership with the Federal Highways Administration.
Per the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act, North Cascades National Park Complex intends to prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) to analyze the effects of the proposal and the no action alternative.
Feedback on the proposed action, environmental issues that should be addressed, other potential alternatives, and sources of data that should be considered by the NPS are requested. Comments will be accepted December 1, 2020 through January 14, 2021.

Substantive public comments will assist in shaping the alternatives in the EA and the assessment of impacts. The EA will be provided for public review in March 2021.
