Survey results to be discussed at Wednesday public meeting
by Dennis Rahm
For the past six months the City of Chelan, and more specifically the Chelan Parks Department, has been engaged in a public process to develop a detailed strategic master plan for Don Morse Park and Lakeshore Marina.
Another in a series of public meetings will be held Wednesday, February 2 at which time the results of a recent community survey regarding future use and development of the park will be shared and discussed. City Parks Director Paul Horne reports that right around 1,000 surveys were completed.
The public comment from several previous meetings as well as the most recent survey results will be used to continue to refine the plan. Horne said a draft of the plan is likely to be completed within the next couple of months. Some of the proposed future improvements at Don Morse Park include a redesigned and improved children’s playground, improved parking, new restrooms, pickleball courts, a splash pad, new skateboard park, and many other potential additions or improvements.
Wednesday night’s meeting will run from 5 pm to 7 pm at Chelan City Hall located at 135 East Johnson Avenue. For more information on the Parks Strategic Master Plan and to sign up for email updates visit this website: https://chelan-parks-rec-system-master-plan-2021.mailchimpsites.com/
