Use a PUD day-use pass to park at Lincoln Rock or Confluence State Park & bike or walk the Rocky Reach and Loop trails.

Living in our beautiful county is definitely a benefit. But, did you know a Chelan County address earns you a Public Power Benefit?

That’s right. Along with low electric rates and great parks, Chelan County PUD shares the benefits of public power with customer-owners by offering free passes to park at Confluence, Daroga and Lincoln Rock state parks. Apply now to enjoy year-round fun at these PUD-owned parks managed by the state.

Offered as a Public Power Benefit since 2015, the passes are popular, said PUD Parks Manager Ryan Baker. His goal is to issue at least 2,000 passes for 2019, a high for the program.

“We’re excited to help even more people enjoy all that the three state parks in our area have to offer,” Baker said. “Confluence and Lincoln Rock are great places to start or end a bike ride on the trail – and even cool off with a swim. Daroga offers a different view of the Columbia River and opportunities for boaters and paddlers.” Insider tip: Lincoln Rock State Park is the favorite of pass holders so far, according to a survey. Free parking at the PUD-owned state parks was one of the highest-ranked customer priorities in the last strategic plan. Let us know what you think about continuing the program during strategic planning this year for 2020-24.

PUD customers and county residents can request a pass online and at PUD offices in Chelan, Leavenworth and Wenatchee. They are good through the end of the year. Collaboration with Washington State Parks and Recreation is vital to the program’s success, Baker said. Under the program, Chelan PUD pays State Parks $10 for each parking pass up to 2,000.

If you have a State Parks Discover Pass, you won’t need the PUD pass. Those who do receive the PUD pass agree to take part in occasional surveys to let the PUD know how the program is working and what parks they are using. Pass holders are reminded that the pass is good for day-use parking only and does not include overnight camping or boat ramp fees.
