Brad Hawkins and Kevin Overbay join Shon Smith in representing Chelan County

information released

When it opens for session this morning, the Board of County Commissioners starts the new year with a new but familiar face.

Taking office on Jan. 1, Commissioner Brad Hawkins, District 3, takes his seat on the three-commissioner board today.

Raised in Chelan County, Hawkins served as a state representative for the 12th Legislative District from 2013 to 2017 and as a state senator from 2017 to 2025. Voted into office in November, he replaces Commissioner Tiffany Gering, who did not seek re-election.

Both Hawkins and Commissioner Kevin Overbay, who begins his third term representing District 1, took the oath of office on Dec. 30 at the historic Chelan County Courthouse.

This year, Commissioner Shon Smith, District 2, will serve as chairman of the board, presiding over the commissioner meetings and managing the board’s weekly agendas.
