Teacher and students are proud of their projects

Information submitted by Louie Van Praag, CTE Instructor

Students have an opportunity to put into practice some practical framing skills learned in the woodshop as part of Chelan High School’s CTE construction program. The shed building project encompasses accurate measuring, safe cutting and power tool use, constructing, framing procedures and roofing.

Once the students have completed a shed, we put it up for sale to recover the building costs. As an added incentive, if the shed sells for a large enough profit – we order a pizza lunch for the students who built the it.

Funds raised by the sale are then used to buy materials for the next group of students to build another shed.

The basic premise is for students to gain experience, knowledge and employability skills that transfer into the work place, making them a valuable asset for any employer.
