The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce is promoting the wearing of masks with the unveiling of a public awareness campaign called “Mask Up To Stay Open”. The local campaign ties in with the State required Mask Up-Open Up order issued last Thursday by Governor Jay Inslee which requires all businesses to ensure that their customers or clients wear a face covering.
Chamber Executive Director Mike Steele said a lot of effort has been put into the campaign in hopes of supporting efforts to keep local businesses open.
We don’t want to see our community go backwards
The mandated wearing of masks is challenging on many fronts with some in favor and others against. Enforcement poses another issue and some in the business community have indicated they won’t enforce the wearing of a mask. Steele points out that whether you like it or not, the wearing of masks may be a reality for several months. He notes the one thing that can’t happen is to move backwards at a time we need to move forward.
We are trying to find ways to keep our local business viable
The Lake Chelan Chamber has joined forces with the Manson Chamber of Commerce as well as other Chambers in the region to promote the masking campaign in an effort to help businesses and one another. Steele said it’s important to note that not every business is open right now and that getting to the next phase is what will allow them to be able to open their doors.
The Chamber plans on working with local media and others in helping to spread the word about the Mask Up to Stay Open campaign.
